The ball hung in the chilly night air the way a question mark and a couple of exclamation points might stand above a comic book character's head. Only this was no dime-store rendition of Archie and Jughead. This was for a trip to the NFC Championship game, a trip of seeming destiny canceled when Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre heaved an ill-advised pass skyward.
Packers wide receiver Javon Walker never had a chance as he watched the throw sail over his head.
