The ball hung in the chilly night air the way a question mark and a couple of exclamation points might stand above a comic book character's head. Only this was no dime-store rendition of Archie and Jughead. This was for a trip to the NFC Championship game, a trip of seeming destiny canceled when Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre heaved an ill-advised pass skyward.

Packers wide receiver Javon Walker never had a chance as he watched the throw sail over his head. Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins grabbed the interception, setting up the winning field goal in overtime and sending the Philadelphia Eagles to their third straight NFC title game with a 20-17 victory last night before 67,707 at Lincoln Financial Field.
