D.C. City Administrator Dan Tangherlini will be nominated to a post in the Obama administration and replaced in city government by the District's current deputy mayor for planning and economic development, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty said Friday.

Mr. Tangherlini, 41, is slated to be named assistant secretary for management, chief financial officer and chief performance officer at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he will serve as a principal policy adviser to Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and oversee numerous management programs.
