Take Your Pick: New England Against the Spread (-12 1/2)?

Summary

Take: Given the Giants' excellent pass rush, ball-control offense and us-against-the-world mentality, 12 1/2 points seems like too much to give. The Chargers beat that spread (21-12) and might have ruined the Patriots' perfection had they not settled for four field goals in the AFC title game. Has Las Vegas forgotten that a New York team with no incentive nearly upset New England in the final week of the regular season?

Give: The Giants have enjoyed a magical ride to the Super Bowl, but the fun ends in Glendale, Ariz., where Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are prepared to break out the been-there, done-that whooping stick on the overachieving Giants. Eli reverts to being the disappointing Manning, and New England rolls. Everybody knows the Super Bowl rarely is a close game.
