From the time he took over as interim coach in November, Ed Tapscott has tried to tweak his players' approaches and get them to shift from a jump-shooting team to one that aggressively attacks the basket.

It took a while, but the Wizards are starting to see improvement in that area. At the All-Star break, Washington only held a 0.8- point scoring advantage over their opponents in the paint, a statistic that ranked them 16th in the league. Since the All-Star break, however, the Wizards hold the second-largest point differential in the paint, outscoring their opponents by 8.1 points.
