Summary


Clearly the person who wrote the Oct. 9 editorial "Stop bullying teachers" misunderstands the purpose and value of Positive Behavior Support (PBS). PBS does not replace or take away from academics; it enhances and strengthens them.

By working to change the climate and culture of the school, PBS enables teachers to teach more, because ultimately schools get to the point where teachers and administrators spend less time disciplining or correcting students. I totally disagree with your position that schools shouldn't teach youngsters social skills because their parents should teach those skills.
