Weapons inspectors for the United Nations stumbled upon small amounts of "potentially hazardous" chemicals in their offices near U.N. headquarters, but the material, thought to have been shipped from Iraq in 1996, posed no "immediate danger," officials said yesterday.

Small vials and tubes containing the choking agent phosgene and other suspected chemicals were discovered Wednesday by the U.N. Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) as staffers were sorting through storage trunks.
