The House yesterday passed a ban on protests at military funerals, and leaders say they hope the measure will get quick consideration from the Senate in time for a Memorial Day signing by President Bush.
The bipartisan Respect for America's Fallen Heroes Act was passed 408-3. It prohibits protests within 500 feet of national cemeteries, including Arlington. Violating the restriction one hour before or after a memorial service could land protestors a one-year jail sentence or $100,000 fine.See the full content of this document
