A Metropolitan Police Department officer was shot in the leg yesterday while on duty in a Northeast neighborhood, police officials said.
The incident occurred in the 5000 block of Rock Creek Church Road Northeast at about 4:30 p.m., when a 4th District officer was talking to a suspicious male, Capt. Michael Jacobs said. The man fled, and the officer chased him a short distance into a stairwell, where a struggle ensued and the officer was shot, Capt.
