Summary
Regarding the excellent editorial "Getting D.C. labor ready" (Sept. 29), the problem is that Washington is a "sanctuary city" - a city that condones violation of federal laws on illegal immigration.
Until now, the District has played a passive role. We don't ask people we arrest whether they are legally present in the United States. When people apply for services, we ask them to prove they live in the District - not that they are legally in our country.See the full content of this document
