The plan of Rep. Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, will not change any Medicare entitlement provisions for anyone now older than 55. But the knee-jerk reaction of many of the seniors who voted for Kathy Hochul in New York, spurred by ignorance and selfishness, is to protect whatever they have at the expense of their children and grandchildren.
