An American Eagle commuter jet from New York was diverted to Dulles International Airport yesterday because of a threatening note from a passenger demanding to be flown to Australia.

The passenger was taken into custody by FBI agents after the plane, originally headed for Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, landed safely at Dulles, about 35 miles outside the District.
