Hard Work Ignored

Summary

In the Sunday letter to the editor "Rumsfeld's war," the writer cites a new congressional report that Operation Iraqi Freedom was greatly mismanaged and prisoners were abused. In my opinion, we have to respond: What about all the hard work our Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen have performed, which led to victory and big payoffs for the Iraqi people, our country and the free world? They have brought hope to those in need under terror and honor to American citizens.

Since al Qaeda attacked America on Sept. 11, most Americans have supported the president and Congress in their efforts to rally our country and use our resources to protect the American people. If we had surrendered and withdrawn precipitously, as some have demanded, we would not have achieved the big gains in security and our victory in the Middle East, with relatively very low casualties when compared to other wars.
