Metropolitan Police officers on patrol for this weekend's All Hands on Deck initiative will pay special attention to several Northwest neighborhoods that have been plagued recently by gang violence, the department said.

Lt. Michael Pavlik said that during the initiative - when all 3,900 officers will be on the streets - the department will provide information about several loosely organized gangs of youths - called crews - operating in and around the Columbia Heights neighborhood.
