Today, a tale of three tech-heavy products and some questions about American manufacturing of advanced consumer goods.

I bought a 2006 Toyota Corolla. The reasons were several, including rave reviews from friends, price ($15,600), mileage and reliability. In fact, Consumer Reports gives 39 of 47 top spots for reliability to Japanese cars, including the Corolla. A wonderful car. I now regard myself as a repeat customer in waiting.
